Grou,<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>the<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>beginning and<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>end<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>of your<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>holiday,<\/strong>\u00a0was built\u00a0<\/strong>on<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>a<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>mound<\/strong>\u00a0and <\/strong>around the year<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>1000<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>the mound was heightened<\/strong>.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>The old town<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>of<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Grou,<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>as<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>a<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>protected landmark, is definitely<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>worth visiting<\/strong>, and in<\/strong> particular<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>St.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Peter’s<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Church with<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>its<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>distinctive<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>saddleback<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>tower<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

Instead\u00a0of\u00a0St Nicholas, in February the people of Grou celebrate\u00a0the\u00a0Feast of\u00a0St.\u00a0Piter.\u00a0This\u00a0Frisian\u00a0speaking saint\u00a0is\u00a0named after\u00a0the\u00a0apostle\u00a0Peter,\u00a0the patron\u00a0saint of\u00a0sailors\u00a0and\u00a0fishermen.<\/p>\n

The Center<\/h2>\n

Because\u00a0of its\u00a0location, Grou has\u00a0developed\u00a0into\u00a0a\u00a0famous watersports centre, and therefore\u00a0in the summer\u00a0season\u00a0there\u00a0is\u00a0always\u00a0a\u00a0pleasant bustle\u00a0and\u00a0there are popular\u00a0restaurants\u00a0and nightlife.\u00a0Also the\u00a0village\u00a0has three\u00a0supermarkets\u00a0so\u00a0you\u00a0can also do your shopping\u00a0in the village.<\/p>\n
